REINTRODUCING NATIVE PLANT SPECIES
Rejuvenating the vegetation and making the island greener is a multi-fold activity. The islands can be made more resilient to flooding and erosion through newly planted trees in the reclaimed and harbor areas. The activity can also be a way to rehabilitate certain life native to the islands, with the reintroduction of dying out varieties.
Another positive outcome from reforestation is more pleasant spaces for people to utilize, socialize and connect with the outdoors.
ACTIVITIES
Identify vulnerable areas to plant a variety of indigenous plants species
Look after the newly rehabilitated areas and plants until they can be left on their own
Propagate older trees in appropriate locations on the island
RESOURCES NEEDED
Seedlings or cuttings
