PLASTIC FREE SCHOOL FUNCTIONS

Competitions and events can generate a large amount of single use plastics, creating a multitude of waste that was only used for a few delicate minutes. This is not only applicable to water bottles, plastic cutlery and plates, but also to decorations — balloons and glitter are plastic too! 

 
 

HOW

  • Use reusable decorations, cloth for drapery/decorating, organic decor (using leaves and flowers), reusable banners

  • Hold functions in outdoor locations, using nature as the main décor. Holding these functions during the day helps reduce the amount of fossil fuels burnt for the use of electricity.

 

MEASURE

  • Written document to parents and students communicating measures that the school will take during the event

  • Photos of the event

  • Statistics of any interception done
